Grandma's Choice

Disappearing grocery expertise, kept alive by making it a job. Older women as in-store curators in the fresh zones.

Grandma's Choice — older women as in-store curators in Korzinka's fresh zones

In Uzbekistan, grocery shopping has always run on practical knowledge passed down through generations. How to pick ripe fruit, fresh meat, good produce.

As the population ages, that knowledge is leaving everyday retail.

Grandma's Choice puts experienced older women into the fresh zones as in-store curators. They help customers choose, and pass on the skill of choosing.

Not a symbolic gesture. A functional role inside daily shopping.

Instead of replacing human expertise with labels and instructions, the brand keeps it working, through the people who hold it.

It turned vanishing expertise into infrastructure: a reason for older people to stay useful, and a reason for young shoppers to trust the shelf.
